A Review of the eBay Seller App for the iPhone

ebaysellingicon1 A Review of the eBay Seller App for the iPhoneAre you an eBay seller? Do you have an iPhone? You’re in luck! eBay has recently released the iPhone app specifically dedicated to eBay sellers. It’s simple, quick, efficient and just works. There’s no hype to what it can do but I think the beauty of it is that it’s just so easy to put up a quick eBay listing.

This app is split up into 3 different sections; research, sell and status. The research section is where you can browse eBay for existing and completed listings in order to find the going price for your item. The sell section is your listing process and finally the status process is just checking on your scheduled or active listings.

The research piece can be pretty helpful for us booksellers by using the scan option. This allows you the typical book scouting feature to scan a barcode and get a price back, typically from Amazon. It’s a great way to get further market information for a particular item and to judge it’s value on the run.ebaysellingresearch thumb A Review of the eBay Seller App for the iPhone

I was able to recently list a box of labels I had in about 5 minutes. This included taking the pictures, researching the completed listings for a judge on how much the labels were going for and finally listing the labels. It doesn’t give you very many options to tweak your listing such as fancy themes or HTML listings but I will typically never use those anyway. It’s just a simple, easy to use app and works great. I highly recommend it for both one-off listings to eBay and to help as a book scouting app to get further prices than just Amazon.

Here are some further screenshots I took to give you an idea of what it looks like.

Valore Books

When I first starting selling books on the Internet I picked Amazon.  The reason had nothing to do with the number of sales I wanted to make, how many people I thought bought on the site on a monthly basis or even how much money I thought I would make.  The sole reason I did was because it was the only website I knew of that sold books and allowed other people like me to sell books as well.  I had bought a few things on eBay here and there but had never really thought of it as a place to actually sell books.  In fact, I had a buyer’s mentality; I was going to go where I was most familiar and the site that I associated with books and that was Amazon.

Amazon allowed me to get my feet wet and learn a ton about selling things online in general.  I was introduced to the world of  ecommerce and I loved it!  I was working my full time job and after my personal library sold I would then venture out to yard sales, thrift stores, book sales and just about any other place that I thought may have some cheap books for me to sell online.  I was making a few hundred dollars a month which then I thought was amazing.  Amazon’s marketplace was the best thing that had happened to me in a long time.  However, little did I know that the hole went much, much deeper and by browsing the Amazon seller community forums and by Googling different strategies I could use to sell more books my eyes were thrust wide open by the potential that I saw out there.
