Taking a small break

Category Uncategorized

If you’ve read my last post you’d know that I just purchased Monsoon and am getting ramped up on that.  Near the same time I’ve just got large influx of books that I’m fervently going through to get listed as soon as possible AND I still haven’t done my taxes yet!  Needless to say, I’m extremely busy here lately and have to put the regular blog posts on hold for a week or so.  I promise that I’ll be back next week with a full writeup in the next series of my book scouting services series.

I've been taking a break of my own, but for a different reason. Since eBay announced the new, higher fees, I decided to stop listing new books and work on scanning covers and cleaning up my eBay listings. When I first set up my store and imported all my listings through AOB, I ended up with 5000 messy listings. Everything seemed to be listed as non-fiction and many of the listings that picked up stock photos are wrong.

With each listing costing so much per month, I felt I was just tossing money away so I have not listed a new book since before Christmas. Clean up, clean up. I do this part time after my full time job so my time “book” time is limited.

Do you think I'm wasting my time?

I'm with you about the messy listings. If you're on your own like us
and have thousands of listings it gets really hard to keep everything
    organized. I've found that once I get a $50/month premium store I'm
going to save quite a bit in monthly listing fees since all mine will
    be GTC.

I've been meaning to get pictures for all of my listings but I've
simply not had the chance because new inventory keeps coming my way.

If I didn't keep getting new inventory I'd do exactly as you're doing.

Thanks for the validation! If I kept getting lots of new inventory like you, I'd probably abandon the photo project but I don't seem to find your opportunities. Now that spring is coming I'm going to try to grow my business!

All it takes is some creativity and persistence. I'm to the point to where
people contact me since I've been getting books from the same people for
    over a year now.
